Southeast Asia is a myriad of wondrous sights, and Laos in the centre of Southeast Asia is commonly referred to as the “Jewel of the Mekong” . It is country full of culture, architecture, and natural beauty with many smiling faces.
There is one extraordinary thing about Laos we wish to share that is so special yet distinct from the rest of the Southeast Asian countries—and that is this unspeakable sense of serenity, acceptance, and peace that exudes not only from the Lao people but seems to linger in the languid air of this very humble and humbling country.
The majority of the 6.5 million people who call Laos home practice some form of Buddhism, and from these influential teachings of karma, devotion, patience, calm, and the goal of Nirvana and enlightenment flow a spiritual spring of fresh air and hope that seems to spread over the land and catch contagiously. Primitive and beautiful, traditional but open-minded and generous, this spirit of the Lao people is truly the unique heart of this country.
