Laos Sapphire

Lao Sapphire Corporation Limited is a subsidiary of Sino Resources Mining Corporation  and is located in Lao DPR. The Lao Sapphire deposit is located in Bokeo Province and is bordering Mynanmar and northern Thailand. Sapphires from the region exhibit unique characteristics and excellent color and is closely related to the fabled Mogok corundums.  The operation is unique as it is a key project for the development of Lao’s sapphire and gem industry. The operation also supports a number of activities aimed at building the capacity of the local community in terms of vocational and industry related skills.

In May 2006, Sino Resources Mining Corporation was granted 800 hectares of concession area and entered into a joint venture to form Lao Sapphire. Sino Resources Mining Corporation has the controlling interest in the joint venture.

Onsite is an active exploration team undertaking ongoing exploration of the concessions and completion of a scoping study indicated the high incidence of sapphire throughout the concession area.

Lao Sapphire Operation Summary

The Lao Sapphire operation is comprised of an open cut mine, a conventional wash plant, sorting facility, a fully operational lapidary (including sorting, preforming and cutting) and burning facilities. The Lao Sapphire operation sapphires travel directly downstream Sino Resources Mining Corporation’s manufacturing centers in China. From here the sapphires are  made into pieces for sale direct to the customer.
